Tegrity is a small, Aboriginal-led NDIS provider in Inner West and South Sydney. We do not have a large roster of workers cycling through participants — we work with a small, consistent team. If you are looking for work that is meaningful, where you actually know the people you support, and where your input matters, we want to hear from you.
We are currently looking for support workers for shifts across the Inner West, South Sydney, and Canterbury-Bankstown areas, including Redfern, Newtown, Marrickville, Bankstown, and surrounds.
What the role involves
As a support worker at Tegrity, you will provide direct, person-centred support to adults with disability. Every participant has different goals, but most of our support work falls into three areas:
- Community participation: Getting participants out into the community — markets, swimming, parks, social activities, the Wednesday rec group. Building confidence and connection through regular, consistent outings.
- Daily living assistance: Helping participants with morning and evening routines, meal preparation, household tasks, and keeping on top of appointments. Done with, not for.
- Social support and skill building: Spending time with participants, building relationship and trust, helping them develop independence in areas they want to grow.
We work with participants with a range of disability types, including psychosocial disability (mental health conditions), intellectual disability, autism, acquired brain injury, and physical disability. A background in or comfort with psychosocial support is particularly valued.
Shifts are typically 2–4 hours, on weekday mornings and afternoons, with some weekend availability. Most workers carry a regular roster of 3–5 participants with consistent weekly shifts. We are not a high-churn, last-minute-rostering operation.
What we are looking for
Essential qualifications and checks:
- Certificate III in Individual Support (or Certificate IV, or equivalent qualification in disability, aged care, community services, or mental health)
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain one — we can guide you through the process)
- Working With Children Check (NSW)
- National Police Check (dated within 3 years)
- Current first aid certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent)
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred for most roles)
Qualities we value:
- Reliability: Participants plan their lives around your shift. Turning up on time, every time, is the foundation of good support work.
- Patience and flexibility: Good days and harder days are both part of the role. The ability to follow a participant’s lead — and pace things accordingly — matters more than a rigid plan.
- Genuine interest in the people you support: We notice quickly when a worker sees a shift as transactional. Our participants deserve better than that.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity: We support participants from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Cultural humility and respect are non-negotiable.
You do not need to have disability sector experience to apply — people with backgrounds in aged care, mental health, childcare, nursing, community development, and other allied health areas bring excellent skills. What we cannot teach is character.
What we offer
- Consistent rosters: Regular participants and predictable weekly hours, not a random grab-bag of one-off shifts.
- Genuine team culture: We are a small team. You will know everyone, be known by everyone, and have direct access to the coordinator if something comes up.
- Support when you need it: We do not leave workers to figure difficult situations out alone. Coordinators are available and responsive.
- Pay at NDIS price limits: We do not undercut workers to increase our margin. You are paid fairly for the work you do.
- Meaningful work: The participants we support are real people with real goals. You will see the difference you make — not just be a number in a shift-matching algorithm.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers
Tegrity is Aboriginal-led and the Aboriginal community is central to who we are and what we do. We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply for support worker and coordination roles. Lived experience of community, culture, and Country is a genuine asset in this work — not something to be retrofitted by training.
We are committed to building a workforce that reflects the communities we serve, and to creating an environment where Aboriginal workers are supported, valued, and able to bring their whole selves to the role.
