On the coast side there's more variety than people expect: Mahon Pool, the rock pool below Jack Vanny Reserve at Maroubra's north end; the calm, sheltered water of Malabar Beach inside Long Bay; and the Malabar Headland walk for bigger days. Randwick City Council makes beach wheelchairs available in season, and the Bowen Library at Maroubra Junction covers the quieter, low-pressure end of community access.
