What does Innovative Community Participation mean?
People may see this wording in an NDIS plan, especially where the goal is to build confidence, social skills, independence or a connection with mainstream community life. In practice, the useful question is: what would you like to do more independently, or what would help you feel part of your community?
That could be joining a sports club, trying an art class, volunteering, learning to use local transport, building confidence in social settings or finding a regular activity that fits your interests. The activity is only the vehicle; your own goal is the important part.
Everyday community access
Practical support to get out, take part in activities and stay connected. This may be one-to-one or in a group.
Participation with a capacity-building goal
Support focused on building skills, confidence and independence so taking part becomes easier over time.
How Tegrity can help
Tegrity provides community participation through familiar support workers, one-to-one outings and the weekly Wednesday Rec Group. We do not run a fixed day centre. Instead, we work with you on activities in the community that are relevant to your interests and goals.
If you need help making sense of how your plan is written, a support coordinator can help you understand your funding, compare options and connect with the right providers. Tegrity does not provide therapy, plan management, SIL or SDA, but can help connect you with providers when those supports are part of your goal.
Check your plan before you commit
Funding names and arrangements can vary from plan to plan. Ask your plan manager, LAC or support coordinator to confirm what is available in your own plan and whether a proposed activity supports your stated goals. We will explain our service agreement and rates before support starts.
A simple way to begin
- Pick one thing you would like to try, return to or feel more confident doing.
- Talk through the first step with a worker or coordinator.
- Choose a level of support that feels right.
- Review what is working and adapt the next step around your goals.
